Ending the HIV Epidemic in Action: An Assertive, Targeted and Low-Barrier Approach
This hybrid presentation/panel discussion focuses on the national goal of reducing new HIV infections in the United States by 90% by the year 2030 and what local efforts have been initiated in Hamilton County to reach this goal. Learn the general overview of the Ending the HIV Epidemic: A Plan for America (EHE) program and hear from direct service staff about how they are putting this concept into action in an assertive, targeted and low-barrier approach to the community work.
Community-Informed Rapid Response to an HIV Cluster
This panel discussion focuses on a cluster of new HIV infections among persons who inject drugs (PWIDs), which emerged in Butler County, OH in 2021. This cluster rapidly grew during the following year after increased community-based HIV testing. Learn how local organizations collaborated to respond to this cluster, their efforts to reduce new infections and link newly diagnosed persons with HIV care and other social services.
The State of LGBTQ+ Rights
In this session, learn about the legislative trends showing up in city halls, statehouses and federal courts around the United States around LGBTQ+ rights. In this presentation, learn how rapid ART is being implemented in a community setting in Chicago. Gain knowledge on best practices and ways to adapt to ensure rapid linkage to care and sustainable engagement in ongoing HIV medical care. Learn about unique challenges faced when providing rapid ART in non-medical setting and possible solutions to those challenges.
Modernizing Ohio’s Felony Statutes Around HIV
This presentation educates participants about the six felony codes in the state of Ohio that apply exclusively to people living with HIV. The discussion examines these outdated laws and how their inherent HIV stigma impact the effort to end the epidemic. Learn how the Ohio Health Modernization Movement advocates for new legislation to modernize these laws based on current scientific understanding and what impact these changes may bring.
